FAQ

Tips for 2D Free Play and 3D Premium Play

Q: What is a tivit?
A: A tivit is the playing piece. In 2D Free Play, you have five tivits. In 3D Premium Play, you have nine tivits. Tivit is also the name of the TiViTz mascot!

Q: What’s the best way to win at TiViTz?
A: Have a plan or a strategy! Before you begin moving your tivits, decide where you want to move your larger tivit numbers and where you want to move your small tivit numbers.

Q: Does it matter if I play with the Red tivits or the Blue tivits?
A: No, Red moves first and Blue always gets the last move of the game.

Q: Can I move my tivits backwards, sideways or straight ahead?
A: No. Tivits can only move forward along the diagonal lines.

Q: Can I jump over my opponent’s tivits?
A: Yes! You may jump over your own or your opponent’s tivits.

Q: Why is it a good idea to jump over tivits?
A: The quicker you end the game, while still sticking to your plan, the less chance your opponent has to beat you!

Q: Can I jump over two tivits at a time? More?
A: Yes, but only if there is an open space between them.

Q: Do jumped tivits disappear from the board?
A: No. Jumped tivits remain in play.

Q: What happens if I’m stuck and can’t move but the game isn’t over?
A: Your opponent continues to move until he has exhausted all legal moves and either a legal move opens for you or the game ends.

Q: Why did I lose? I had more tivits in my score goals than my opponent!
A: You either made a mistake in your math, lowering your score, or you made a mistake in your plan and did not create the maximum score from each equation.

Q: How can I improve my scores?
A: Practice your math and practice your strategy. In other words, keep playing!

Q: Do I need to re-arrange my tivits or can I leave them as they appear?
A: You may move them or keep them as they appear — it all depends on your strategy!

Q: When I’m force jumped, do I lose my turn?
A: Yes. The force jump is a move and counts as your turn.

Q: If you land in a score goal, can you move to another one or are you stuck there?
A: You can move from the front row to the back row, but you may not move backwards.

Q: Can I move into my opponent’s score goals on my way to my own?
A: No. You may only move within the common playing area or your own score goals.

Q: What is a block or a trap?
A: The block or trap is a strategy used to inhibit another player by surrounding his tivits so they cannot be moved.

Q: What happens when I land on the “traps” or icons in the center of the game that resemble a whirlpool or tornado in the center of the gamesheet?
A: You may move your own piece into these icons without penalty. However, if your opponent force-jumps you into any of these icons, your tivit will be moved back to a starting position and you will lose a turn.
